The water content in snow that is on the ground in Sanpete County continues to approach the highest levels ever, with Sanpitch River drainage reaching 194% of its historical median as of March 24, 2023, according to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the UDSA agency that keeps track of snowfall, rainfall and drought. 

In fact, the Sanpitch River drainage is higher than the statewide median of 197%. The statewide snow-water equivalent measured at Snotel weather stations reached an average of 26.1 inches, which breaks the record of 26.0 inches from 1983.
