Gunnison City Cemetery Rules & Regulations

Flowers and Decorations

  1. Silk Flowers or other decorations placed securely in vases on either side of monument and off the mow strip is the property of the family of the deceased and will not be removed by cemetery grounds keeping. However, the City reserves the right to remove flowers or items that are obviously weathered and unsightly.
  2. No flowers, decorations or any other items are permitted on the grounds beyond the secured vases on the grave stones except for the following holidays:
    • Easter
    • Memorial Day
    • Mother's Day
    • Father's Day
    • Veteran's Day
    • Christmas
  3. Decorations are only permitted 7 days prior to and 14 days after the above holidays with the exception of Mother's Day, which will be for the day of the holiday only.
  4. No glass containers are allowed due to the danger of broken glass
  5. All potted plants or ums must be placed at right or left of monuments or markers
  6. No small stones, stuffed animals, pinwheels, solar lights, or figurines are permitted around the monuments, markers or graves except for the designated holidays as stated above.
  7. No flowers or wreaths are permitted on grass during mowing season which is March 15th through November 15th except for the designated holidays as stated above.

Other

  1. Digging without permission of the Cemetery Sexton is prohibited
  2. Plantings of any kind are prohibited and will be removed upon discovery.
  3. Do Not drive on grass.
  4. No dogs allowed on grounds.
  5. Families of deceased are responsible for maintenance of monuments.
